Plain-English terms across AI, Signals, and Services.
Plain-English definitions of terms you'll see across Finautor's three products.
Finautor AI & the platform
- The Brain — your private, persistent research memory; it stores permanent facts, never live numbers.
- Confidence score — a green / amber / red rating on each answer, from source count, freshness, completeness, reliability, and calculation depth.
- Amber banner — an honesty flag shown when you asked to verify or refresh data but no live source was actually fetched.
- Performance snapshot — Finautor's portfolio-performance view: a period-return table, your best/worst months, and a cumulative chart.
- Bull case / Bear case — the optimistic and pessimistic scenarios Finautor lays out for a position or thesis.
- Research preview — Finautor AI's current, evolving release: the product is live and improving, and usage is metered.
Portfolio & eToro
- Equity — the total value of your account if you closed everything now: cash + total invested + unrealized P/L.
- Current value — a position's invested amount plus its profit/loss; this matches the eToro app.
- Unrealized P/L — profit or loss on open positions you haven't closed yet; it moves with every price tick.
- Realized P/L — profit or loss locked in on trades you've already closed.
- Drawdown — the decline from a peak to a later low in your account value; a common risk measure.
- Risk score — eToro's 1–10 rating of how risky your trading has been.
- Native / sub-unit currency — Finautor shows prices in the currency an instrument actually trades in across 50+ exchanges, including sub-units (e.g. "542 GBp ≈ 5.42 GBP").
- CopyTrader / Copier — eToro's feature for mirroring another investor's trades; a copier is someone copying you.
Signals
- Regime score — a 0–100 reading of what market environment we're in, computed daily by a systematic model.
- Composite score — a single number blended from many inputs; the equity signal is a composite reading for broad U.S. equities, not a single index.
- Regime label — the plain-language band the score falls in (risk-on / risk-off for equities; Tight / Normal / Widening / Stress for credit).
- Credit stress — the credit signal's reading of conditions in broad credit markets.
- Direction (20-day) — a ▲ / ▼ teaser of the recent move, shown instead of the raw number.
- As-of date / staleness flag — the timestamp of a reading, and a marker if the latest data is behind.
fsk_key — the API key you mint to pull signal readings programmatically.- MCP — Model Context Protocol; the standard Finautor Signals uses, alongside a REST API, to serve readings to agents and tools.
Services
- Engagement — a scoped Services project: we build and document a deliverable for a professional client.
- Scope → build → handover — the three stages of an engagement; you or your licensed partner decide and execute at the end.
- Deliverable — what the engagement produces: a signal, a model, a pipeline, or a tool, with its documentation.
Regulatory terms
These terms describe regulated investment advice, which Finautor does not provide. They are here because you will meet them elsewhere, not because they describe anything Finautor offers.
- Suitability — the assessment of whether a product or strategy fits a client's circumstances, knowledge, and objectives; a core requirement of regulated advice.
- MiFID II Article 25 — the EU rule requiring firms to assess suitability and appropriateness before giving investment advice.
- Tied agent — a firm or person authorised to act for, and under the responsibility of, a single licensed investment firm.
